Talk about an unexpected favorite! I didn't really know what to expect with this one, just that it's a friend's favorite. It started off confusing and I wasn't sure where it would go or if I'd want to go with it. But lo and behold, the wacky plot and clever writing sunk its teeth into me. Such a unique love story that goes beyond the category of love story.

This was such an influential book for me in my early 20s. It has been interesting to see how I’ve grown, stayed the same and the influence this book had on me these past thirteen years or so. So much still rings true but it feels way more shallow and empty now- the male gaze/perspective hitting me bluntly over the head every page. Still fun though
I love all of Tom Robbins books. They are irreverant and bizarre (a bit like Kurt Vonnegut). I don't know if I could pick a favorite.
