DNF at 10%. The writing was horrible, since the author was trying so hard to sound like a regency novel and it was way over the top. The love interest was a literal animal (and not in a good way, if there is any) and I can see him getting more possessive and toxic in the upcoming chapters and I was not going to put myself through that. The main character was boring as hell and I couldn’t feel sympathy at all for her. I can’t even remember their names and I just stopped reading. Please look elsewhere for a good supernatural regency historical romance because this one is not it.

Found it quite misleading that Amazon advertised this as "Steamy". It was not that. I've yet to find a good paranormal historical romance where doesn't bore me to tears.
Trigger Warnings: loss of parents and kidnapping

DNF - I couldn't click with the characters and the grammar/vocab used was weird. I had a challenging time understanding what the characters were saying/meant.
Very well written! The shifters society is fully described and interweaved into the regency period and all the characters are engaging. In fact, I hope Ms. Allen continues to write for this universe and explore many other characters who were introduced.
I read this via Kindle Unlimited but knew after reading about pockets in wedding dresses that I needed to buy it outright.

I think this has a lot of interesting ideas.
I liked the blend of the paranormal and regency historical romance genres. I think this created a new, unique world for readers that we haven't seen a lot of before. Reminded me a bit of the Parasol Protectorate series.
I also liked the main characters. I think Alfred and Felicity made a cute couple but I definitely wanted more scenes with them.
However, I think the opening scenes (first two chapters) could have been better. They felt super info dumpy. There were some paragraphs throughout that were overly descriptive.
I think my main issue was that there was so much going on and there were too many characters/names to keep track of. I think trimming the amount of characters and giving more time for the couple would have made me like the book more.
Regardless of the issues I had, I would be interested to see where the story goes from here. Also, I love this cover!

What I Liked: There were parts of this I really enjoyed. Felicity made for a very interesting main character, and I liked how she stood up to Alfred and his packmates throughout the book. She wasn’t a doormat and I liked that. The central romance in this didn’t do a lot for me, but I thought the sex scenes were well-written.
I also liked the work that had gone into the world-building. A lot of effort had been put into developing the world of the shifters right down to their holidays, the actual meaning of pack roles, and their mythology. It fleshed out the world a lot more, especially in the early parts.
What I Didn’t: Firstly, the romance aspect wasn’t great for me. I personally didn’t feel a lot of chemistry between them and aside from the fated mates aspect, I really didn’t buy their relationship. They really didn’t spend that much time together on page, or it didn’t feel like it; there wasn’t much work done to show them actually getting to know one another outside their bond. I just found their relationship a little flat and it wasn’t the part of the book I found most interesting.
I also found the book a little slow overall. I found the pacing off – it started well, then lagged quite a bit. The ending felt overly long and I personally felt it had too much exposition about the world of the shifters that could have been seeded a little earlier throughout the book.
Overall: It just wasn’t for me. The writing was good, the world-building was interesting, and I think there were some good ideas in it, but I wasn’t invested in the main romance and I found the book as a whole a bit slow.
Would I Recommend It?: Yes, if you want a historical fated mates werewolf shifter romance with an unconventional heroine.
Would I Read Something By The Author Again?: I’m not sure.

although I will concede this changed once they were mated and there were some quite sweet scenes of them laughing together, but I think some of the more domestic stuff of them just talking about things not to do with being soulmates could have been placed earlier.I also found the book a little slow overall.
