I think when reviewing this book it's important for me to remember to evaluate what it wants to be and not what I want it to be.

Let's address the main issue I have with it: I don't vibe with A/B/O - Omegaverse tropes. Luckily, they aren't front and center in this book and their presence didn't detract anything from my enjoyment. I wish the historical setting would have been explored more, but one doesn't read romance novels expecting a sociologico-historical monography, and the regency flavoring was all in all quite good. Overall, an engaging and fun book. Just not a perfect match for me, but maybe it's going to be for you!

I did not know that this was a combination that I was looking for - A werewolf, who is a duke, who finds his mate, who happens to be a wallflower. Okay.

Overall I enjoyed this, particularly the unique pack composition and the gradual reveal to Felicity, as she developed a relationship with Alfred and Alfie. The language didn’t always work for me - it felt a little tortured and dense in parts.

This was my first shapeshifter romance and I enjoyed it! the shapeshifting was not off putting and as I read it just felt like part of the story and another character trait. I had fun trying to guess what animal the characters shifted to based on their character traits. The side characters were delightful and their interactions with each other and the main characters added to the story. Felicity was everything I like in a female main character, strong, independent, determined, caring, and kind. She knew what she wanted and was actively working to make it happen when she met Alfred, Duke of Lowell. Alfred has been searching the world for his perfect mate and he has found her in Felicity, now he has to convince her. Will Alfred be able to keep his wolf in check until he can convince Felicity to marry him and tell her his secret? Will Felicity be able to have the life that she dreams of and will Alfred be part of it? How will she react to the news that shapeshifters are all around her? If you are a reader of Regency romances I highly recommend that you read this shapeshifting Regency.
