Pride and prejudice meets the hospital and a lack of boundaries
I really wanted to love this one but it just didn’t capture me very much. It took me forever to get through and I nearly DNF quite a few times.
I loved the premises of a young DR helping out underprivileged women and developing a birthing program for all the access. Along side a budding romance what could there be not to like.
I listened to this as an audio book and I still cannot get into them. I struggle with a lot of the narrators voices and this one was no exception. I felt like the story line dragged on forever and there was so much detail they could have been missed. The chemistry between the two main characters was pretty bland and I never really felt the spark between them.
I think I may have enjoyed this one a bit more if I had of read it, but unfortunately a bit of a miss for me.

This book was so fun to read! It follows Dr Sam on her fellowship journey in San Francisco, where she juggles many a different ball whilst surrounded by a loving set of friends, a tense family and a dr she can’t help but fall for.
As a people pleaser who has been told many a time they need to work on setting boundaries, I really related to Sam.
And the way Grant picked up on her small quirks and used that to support and her charm her was lovely.
Overall this was a really cute read and makes you even more grateful for our healthcare professionals who always put patients first.
Thanks NetGalley for the ARC.

2½⭐ Almost a DNF. It was just boring and did not hold my interest. I spent half the time listening to it searching for my next read. But it could just be me. I haven't totally liked the last couple of books I've read.

This was really cute. I enjoyed being in this world for a bit
The main protagonist is an MD community health research fellow at an under resourced public hospital in SF. She has a Master in Public Policy and is trying to building a doula program for the pregnant population her hospital serves. The advocacy for doulas to be recognized and legitimized by a large medical institution? Perfect. The gender neutral language used when talking about pregnant people/populations? Gorgeous. The homage to Love and Basketball? Spectacular. Is this a romance book? Sure! But more importantly, is this (hopefully) a future life/career plan for a Jing Murray? God let's hope so.
Essentially what I'm realizing is that I just want to be Dr. Sam Holbrook but not do any of the work ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I love the inclusive langauge, everything Sam stood for and what this book was trying to get at. However everything g else was MEH. I got bored and had to skim a lot bc I genuinely did not care. I feel like the first 30% was good but then everything fell flat to me. No cute banter, little chemistry, and no **** to make up for everything else. This book would get 3 stars for the community health and health equity of it all but bc it’s a romance book, ya get a 2 :(
Anatomy of a Meet Cute is a cross between Greys Anatomy and a Hallmark movie. The characters are honest and hard working, with noble goals. As someone who works at a hospital, I appreciated the level of detail and time spent researching for accuracy of dialogue and system. However I do think it sort of falls short of a romance novel and instead is more in the women’s literature. There is a romance but it is slow burn and swift, and more time spent on other ancillary topics to consider it front and center. Side note - loved the roommates and would totally want more of their stories.
