From chapter 1, I could tell this would be a good fantasy read, and it did not disappoint.

I listened to this as an audiobook and don’t get me wrong I loved the narrator! But the book just didn’t really hit the mark for me?
I felt like the world wasn’t flushed out enough (though I had just finished A Day of Fallen Night by Samantha Shannon so that might influence my opinion.) I was going to give 4 stars but the ending felt rushed (a lot of the climatic dump could have been spread out over the next two books.) Additionally, I didn’t like the MC’s name. I know it’s something like yeeran but the narrator kept calling her urine and it was hard to not laugh. Bless her soul. I will probably read the next two books, but I don’t know if I’ll be a first day buyer.
