Vaguely interesting world, and great queer norms, but the story and characters just didn’t draw me in. I had a similar experience with another book from this author. The world had some clever elements but never felt expansive or awe-inspiring.
Needed a bit more depth to get 5 stars but truly enjoyed reading this fantasy about elves and fae and humans and all the rest of the world building.

I LOVE Saara El-Arifi's other series, and while I liked this new book and am excited for the next in the series, it felt too predictable for me.
