Nothing technically wrong with this. Emotionally it just did not land for me. I just didn't connect with any of the characters and don't really care very much.

Dit voelde een beetje als een set-up boek voor de rest van de serie. Het kwam wat traag op gang en het duurde een tijd voor ik echt ging meevoelen met de karakters.
Daarentegen was het wel een keer wat anders dan de standaard blueprint die veel fantasy/romantasy volgen tegenwoordig. Er zaten voorspelbare stukken in, maar het was afwijkend genoeg om me te boeien.
Houd rekening dat de romance in dit boek absoluut niet het hoofdplot is, maar dat dit echt een meer politieke fantasy is met een subplot aan romance. I like that, maar goed om te weten voor je eraan begint.
Al met al ben ik benieuwd om te zien waar het verhaal in boek 2 naartoe gaat!

3.5 ⭐️ I enjoyed the reading experience. However, I felt like it was a little bit rushed. I loved the vibe and the world building, but I would have enjoyed more character development, and that includes the different relationships. I felt like a little bit more details would have been necessary to understand the complexity of the world, the characters, and the relationships.
Some parts a bit predictable but more twists than I saw coming!! Enjoying the lore and would have liked a bit more backstory into why the war between Elves even started. Finished the book very quickly, enjoyed a lot.
