This had an interesting structure, where we begin at the ending and then work backwards to the happy beginning. You can't really celebrate the beginning though because you know how it's going to build and then unravel. I think that, even though this was written and takes place in the 1970s, this could still work really well as a contemporary performance. All the characters and issues are still relatable 50 years later.

I love how sparse each line is. As much is said in the pauses as is in the words themselves. I would like to see this done at some point.

required reading for my drama class (freshman English major) , I don't hate it yet I don't know how I feel about it exactly.
“But we betrayed him for years. And he betrayed me for years .”
wow my first pinter play and what a good one to start with! was really interesting to see how the relationships between the characters changed and developed with the show being told in reverse chronological order. lots of weird repeating moments that are classic for absurdism and the show wasn’t as confusing as other absurdist plays i’ve read. it’s a very simple story but has a ton of layers to it. thoroughly enjoyed it.

This is a really short play, describing a strange kind of love triangle. Portraying some typical traits of postmodernism, such as the delightful irony and funny undertones of many phrases, and subverting the general structure of a cheating affair by adapting the narrative sequence into something that's almost completely opposite to chronology, this made for an interesting and quirky play. Also because I found the atmosphere quite pleasant to read, I'm definitely hoping to pick up some more of Pinter's works in future.
it... was alright? it's obviously better heard or watched than read, so i'll have to find a performance of it to get a better judgment.
