Just needed to brush up on book one before freakin' finally continuing on with this series because I had genuinely forgotten what had happened in this one. Not sure what's taken me so long but I'm gonna start book two. I still really enjoyed this book and I just adore Mercy as a character. She's likable and funny and the side characters are interesting as well. I fell so deeply in love with the Alpha & Omega series that I completely pushed this one to the wayside. I'm excited to get to the next one.
Overall Review:
4 stars. This was so much fun! I really enjoyed it and I don't know why it's taken this long for me to start this series. I've had the first 7 books on my ipad for years just sitting there all unread. Shame on me.
I really liked the writing. Briggs is a great storyteller. The story is intriguing, the setting and the whole paranormal aspect was well done and I really, really liked the characters. They were the highlight for me.
Mercy Thompson is a witty, sarcastic, hilarious, badass and I already love her dearly. One book in and I already love her so much. Her character and her voice were just so engaging and kept me hooked. I love that she's a mechanic and that she had no problem standing up for herself and holding her own against wolves.
I feel like this series has potential to become a new favorite of mine if it continues on like this. It's completely addictive so far and I can't wait to read more about Mercy.

First things first-ugh, this cover. I would never have picked this book up if I hadn't seen that several of my friends (who have good taste in books) really liked it. And let's be clear, Mercy Thompson does not travel around wearing this kind of outfit. In fact, she's usually wearing a t-shirt. So, don't let the cover throw you off. This book is awesome. I don't know if it's really 5 star quality, but I had 5 star enjoyment of it. Mercy is a super fun heroine, and the world she lives in is a delight to read about. My only complaint-Samuel. Get real, girl! He's the worst. Can't wait for the sequel to become available at the library.
Currently listening to the new audio version, which has a full cast. I like most of the voices, but Bran did not work for me at all. Charles didn't sound right either. If they ever do the full cast of Alpha and Omega, I wonder if they'd keep the same voice actor.
OK, I'm done, and I still really enjoyed it and still didn't like Sam at all.
