I love this series. I didn’t intend to start a reread but I couldn’t resist throwing on the audiobook to get other tasks completed.

I went into Moon Called after reading The Dresden Files and wanting something similar, and what I ended up finding was TDF's cooler and more likeable sister. This book delivered everything I wanted and more from an urban fantasy story. The mystery was engaging, the world-building was complex and interesting, and the characters were diverse and likeable (unlike a certain misogynist wizard). My only minor complaint was that Moon Called lacked some of the gritty action sequences that TDF has, but I am more than happy to overlook this since it greatly improved upon literally everything else. I'll definitely be reading more of this series!

i read this back in 2019 and thought it was meh but now reading it this year, i enjoyed it a lot more. I'll definitely be reading the rest of this series as long as it stays good. :)

okay i have some things i really liked about this, and there r some things i really didn’t like.

i really like the writing. it’s easy to read, interesting, and super funny. mercy is a hilarious character, and honestly, i found myself giggling about some of the stuff she said. warren and kyle were some of my other favorites in this book.

on the other hand, i hated the blatant misogyny in this book, coupled with a weird romantic relationship?? i hated that samuel was an important character especially after we were told that he tried to marry mercy at SIXTEEN?? why does she not hate him?! even if mercy is technically a long living species, she is very young still, so i find it so weird that samuel is still trying to make her love him.

anyways speaking of misogyny, why does every single woman except a handful hate mercy?! it’s rly annoying bcuz it gives her a “pick me” vibe (even though she isn’t).

i hope the books get better because i’m interested enough to keep reading, but i’ll drop the series if the glaring issues get worse.

Just delightful and absolutely nothing serious

So much world building mumbo jumbo that the actual plot gets lost. And it wasn't handled very smoothly either. A for effort, I guess.
