Re-reading the series, again. Ms. Briggs brings a wonderful talent of disruption and intrigue into the delicate balance of Mercy Thompson's world. Introducing us to faes, vampires, gremlins, werewolfs and walkers, Ms. Biggs makes the world a lively and magical place full of danger and excitement.

It is a page turner!
Delightful book with the main character as a shape shifter interacting with were wolves. The locale is the Tri-Cities area of WA. There are many surprises. It was hard for me to put this book down.

First in a new series, Mercy is a mechanic who is also a shapeshifter that was raised by werewolves. In this book she has to face the vampires, getting their help to stop some bad werewolves.
I listened on audio and just couldn’t. Not one character grabbed my interest enough to finish.

This was decent and fun. The FMC Mercy is a walker, a coyote shifter. She runs with a pack of werewolves, and the Alpha gets attacked and his daughter taken. Mercy goes on a quest to find them and meets all kinds of paranormal creatures along the way.

The first book in this series was good though I originally disliked that some of the characters seem to randomly jump into the plot with all this important background connection to the main character without much introduction.
I. Shipped. Them. Hard. I shouldn't have. That wasn't the point of this book, but I soooooo did.
Mercy is a fucking badass werecoyote thing and I love her and that is that so there. I thought I wouldn't like this because werewolves and there were vampires, but it wasn't what I thought at all. The world that Briggs creates is interesting and forces you to keep turning page after page. I was a bit shocked that a death would come so quick to the story, but it did help with the plot. I was just taken aback.
Loved Zee, her gremlin old boss. I'm also madly in love with Warren, a gay werewolf (um, yes please). Stefan is a vampire, and dare I say it, but I also really like him. I hope we see more of him in her life. He was trustworthy despite being a vampire. I'm working on warming up to Sam, but it's not really there. Oh... and then there is Adam. ::shudders:: Adam is the alpha of his pack, so there you have it. He won. I lasted all of a page.
Good shit. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

On the whole I really enjoyed this book. It's a smooth, engaging read, and having a skinwalker as the main character is an interesting vantage point. Her vision of werewolf culture is a bit hypermasculine for my taste, but it doesn't overpower my ability to like the characters and story, at least not here. I'm also a little worried about how often Mercy feels compelled to remind us that women don't like or trust her.
