Horrible cover, surprising content! Nothing "romance" about this urban fantasy, and I'm pretty sure the MC would never be caught dead in a crop top, but there you have it. This is a surprisingly entertaining and maturely written book. Maybe I just had low expectations for urban fantasy, but this is a book that can stand on its own outside the genre. Yes, vamps and werewolves, but complexly created and placed within well-constructed, unique cultures. Sure, there are a few too many mentions of uncontrollable hormones, but they are minor sidenotes to an otherwise easy-going mystery-thriller with fun fantasy elements, rounded characters, depth, and considered development.
Adam was too off from what I imagined him to be and this bugged me and distracted me throughout, grr. I guess it is too hard to win when adapting a graphic novel.
