This book is a great beginner fantasy because the world building is easy to understand because it's more like a fairytale. I usually don't find myself wanting to read all the time, but this book was different. I've yet to read the rest of the series but I definitely want to. If I had to recommend a season to read this, it would be fall. It's thicker but for the most part feels like a quick read.

I think this was a good start to the series! I liked that Evangaline is this girl who loves romanticizing about romance. It was a nice change of pace compared to the usual sword-fighting women I read a lot. While a lot of the things Evangaline did was from her feelings and heart, I could sympathize with her so I didn’t rlly dislike her for that. She’s just a girl who wants her happily ever after, and I can’t bring myself to not like her for that. I do worry for her… At least she’ll have Jacks heheiskdkdkwkdjw.

This was a cute story with some interesting style of characters and settings.

For my taste, the conflicts resolved too quickly and neatly, and the FMC felt a bit too naive with constant musing of motives that didn’t eventuate. I kept waiting for some drama or tension.

I also didn’t feel any of the tension between the FMC and MMC, it just felt a bit watery when compared to other currently popular romantasy novels.

I would recommend this book to someone looking for an introduction to fantasy or if they are looking for a YA novel.
