I enjoyed the story, despite being fairly predictable and on the nose. Things work out a bit too conveniently, in a way that you know all the main characters will be fine, and there’s rainbows and sunshine at the end.

I mean come on, she leaves just DAYS before the curse runs out of time, if only she had said those three little words to him at ANY point since she already knew she loved him. She wouldn’t have made it past the second trial without Rhys secret help. She happens to figure out the riddle the second before being killed, then she’s magically brought back to life by a special never seen before golden goo that all the High Lords have! Where have you been loca style, she’s all pretty and shiny like a new vampire now.

Also, Feyre is an idiot. Makes it really hard to love her character when she continuously makes the worst decisions over and over.

Really enjoyed the book. The first half was definitely a slow start but it did pick up in the second half, which I felt was needed. I liked the strong female protagonist but felt that her relationship with Tamlin moved really quickly and was kind of surface level, considering how much she loathed him at the start.

I really enjoyed the world building aspects, though, and I’m excited to read the rest of the series.

ACOTAR may be the world building book for the series, but to me it wouldve been this good even on its own. If youve never read fantasy before, get through the first 25 pages before you walk away. I was worried that the romance aspect would eclipse the plot, but I was very pleasantly surprised!

I am so conflicted on this book. The first half? Pointless, annoying, basic. This beauty and the beast retelling was so on the nose it was frustrating, because it felt so uncreative and predictable. About halfway/two thirds of the way through the book though, it 180s and becomes a different, far more interesting and exciting story.

The imagery was really nice af the writing was easy to get through, but make no mistake, I'm continuing the series for Lucien and Rhysand. Tamlin and Faeyre are boring on their own.
