Charming, funny, brimming with voice and banter, hard to put down

A fun read

I made it about 1/5 of the book and I couldn’t get into it. My real life is filled with enough political information, and I don’t particularly enjoy reading fiction that has multiple mentions- no matter what leaning- within the first chapter. Did not finish.

Sittenfeld is one of my favorite authors. I love her witty writing and her flawed characters. This story is a cross between her typical writing and guilty light summer reading. I loved it!

I don’t know why other reviewers don’t like that the story took place during the Covid pandemic. Why is this bad? It is what it is.

I don't get it. Why is this book famous? Is the author the kid of a famous publisher? This was neither romantic nor comedic. The premise was frankly unbelievable. And the conversations were like streams of consciousness more suited to a screenplay not a book. The most painful part were the long quarantine emails.
