If you like cats you'll love this book!

I was not familiar with the cats of Poets Square before reading this book, and later looking up pictures of all of the cats mentioned nearly brought me to tears!
I was not aware of all of the struggles associated with cat rescue and protecting street cats before reading, and I found this to be such an emotional and educational read! I truly commend Gustafson for all that she has done for these cats and for spreading awareness of what can go wrong in a compassionate way as well as solutions to the growing problems faced by feral cats.
I highly recommend this to anyone who loves cats and especially those who are interested in entering the rescue and care sphere.
I was provided a copy of this book for a fair and honest review by NetGalley!

In the same way Courtney Gustafson never expected to take care of 30+ feral cats, I never expected to learn anything about her, but I am so glad she did and I loved every bit of it.

A tender, reflective memoir about how one woman (and her partner Tim) found herself in "custody" of 30 feral cats. On the surface, just the premise is heart-warming as much as heart-breaking; she discusses her trials, errors, failures equal to the good, the happy, the joyful of her experience. On a deeper level, this is a delicate conversation of our world, our own systems that help us but also fail us. And thus, help or fail cats.

Courtney's character and heart is a physical being not only within her taking such care of each cat as well as her honest reflection on what lead her here, and why it matters. This story, her story -- but as you read, you realize many peoples' stories -- is relatable, tangible, and a mirror to circumstance. Her dream was to write, and by god, she did. Cheers to the cats. 🥂

Awww I loved this. Went in not knowing much and not expecting the intertwining of grief, mental health, and hope along with social commentary but I loved it!
