What I liked:
- the second half was very fast paced.
- the ending made me interested in how the story will conclude (I believe this is a duology?)
- the secondary characters were good and the villain was satisfying. I didn’t see that coming at all.
What I didn’t like:
- the pacing of the first half was extremely slow. It took me 18 days to finish this (it normally takes me a day or two to finish a book) and most of those days were spent reading the first half. It just did not hold my interest.
- the narrative voices of Jules and Mia sounded the same. Several times I had to flip back to the start of the chapter just to figure out who was talking.
- the comparisons to Indiana Jones. All through the book, it talked about how the puzzles were “unsolvable” but it seemed like Jules just came in and figured them out with little effort.
- the romance at inopportune times. It’s not instalove which is good, but I still wasn’t wild about them together.
Overall I enjoyed it. I’ll probably read the sequel because I’m curious about where the story will go from here, but I definitely did not enjoy this as much as I was expecting to.

I really enjoyed this book, it had an Indiana Jones feeling about it and I was holding my breath for most of the story, wondering what would happen next.
I loved both characters and that love grew as the story went on; their different stories, motivations and faults making them even more compelling.
The mystery surrounding the Undying was great and after THAT end, I really can't wait to know more.

Predictable, tacky and too much icky teenage romance for me to handle.
Oh, wow, this book was so fantastic! Such an epic book, I loved the relationship between Mia and Jules! And solving the puzzles, and being in pretty much constant danger, and all the thrills! Oh, and that ending was just pure evil! So twisty and turny, and I can't wait for the next book!
Ok... hmm.. That was a bit disappointing.. I don't even know how to review this book, because I've found myself skimming it for the most parts.
The premise is super interesting - Indiana Jones in space! I mean, come on! It sounds AMAZING!
But then you start reading and it's all just... meh...
This book is super visual, and I'm sure it would make a great movie, with all the running and explosions and ancient alien temples and whatnot, but as a book it was hard for me to focus on all of this and I just couldn't picture those things in my head.
The characters are fun and likable, but i don't think it's enough.
The ending was super plot-twisty and I loved that and that might be the only think that'd make me read book 2. I need to know what happens next!

What a fun sci-fi story!
So many twists and turns I didn't see coming!
I really liked the two characters we were following and their budding relationship.
and that cliffhanger!!!! I am ordering the second book immediately.

This was the best that this author pairing have written so far and I’m a fan of their previous series. UNEARTHED provided immediate connection with a story that left me clueless, breathless, full of adrenaline and utterly drawn in.
Neither Jules nor Mia should find themselves on the planet of the Undying at the age they are, but both are there illegally on missions of their own importance, passion-filled and wanting to change the direction of their own lives and earth’s. What ensues is a twisty, unexpected tale of a civilisation long-gone that seemed to have intentions for earth to save it from something. This is a story with bandits, criminals, firsts, genius and survival. I felt absolutely on the edge of my seat from start to finish, which is kind of uncomfortable but completely worth it.
Mia was the making of Jules and Jules became the making of Mia, where integrity grew and selfishness diminished. Their friendship and bond might have been over a short period of time together but they experienced so much, I believed their tether. Often side characters are important to me in books, but with UNEARTHED I felt the opposite, Mia and Jules were the focus and all surrounding were supplementary; it worked.
I’m pretty impatient at where I’ve been left, but like the best of books, I can hang on for the kind of quality of writing that isn’t everyday, or every read. Spooner and Kaufman wrote seamlessly together and I am bitten by these worlds they have created. I still don’t know who the goodies and baddies really are!
