*e-ARC provided by the publisher via NetGalley - thank you! This in no way impacted my opinions of this book.*

I went into this book bracing myself for impact. After all, I loved this duo's prior trilogy (especially book one!) and I was afraid I was coming into this with my expectations too high. Well, I had no need to worry - this one blew me away. As usual, Kaufman and Spooner bring action, tension, and incredible world building, especially as they lay the foundation for a new series. While there were a few times in the middle when the plot's pace was a bit slow for my taste, it picked up and the end left me shocked and excited for book two. Buying this one for the high school library where I work was a no-brainer!

Eu achei muito divertido e fiquei surpresa com o desenvolvimentos das coisas para chegar a esse final, o final em si não foi surpresa, mas a experiencia de passar o livro todo sem ter certeza de que era mesmo isso, foi um plus para mim.

Indiana Jones in a new universe. Exploring a new planet, putting together puzzle pieces and romance??

I was all for exploring the new planet Gaia, but when the main characters started to have feelings for each other I had to take a step back. The main characters are thrown into this unknown world, trying to figure out its secret. Yet they have enough time to put their feelings before their own lives.

*Mini rant*
This is the one thing that always throws me off of YA books. Can't they just resolve the mystery and then when everything is safe figure out their feelings? Or is it because they're looking death in the eye that they feel like they need confirmation from another person that they are worthy of love before they meet their end?
*end*

Overall a good story. It was left on a cliffhanger, and I cannot wait to see where this ends up.
I had a few predictions co e true, and more waiting to be revealed (I feel like some were obvious).

I really wanted to love Unearthed. It seemed to have all the elements I would like: space fun, planetary exploration, mysterious aliens, archaeology puzzles and a whole lot of sci-fi...

But I really struggled with reading it. With the shifting back and forth between Amelia and Jules, there was no mystery as to what either of them were up to. All their thoughts, and plans, and lies were all laid out to the reader each time we shifted to their point of view.

And boy was it laid out! It felt like the inner monologue made up a good 75% of the book at times with action and dialogue taking a back seat. Which is a pity because when we did get to see the interaction between Jules and Amelia, it was great! I just wanted to see more of it!

First book of the #breakyourtbrapart reading challenge!

Really liked this book! Buttttt I feel like it was kind of predictable with the whole boy and girl on planet together thing? Still liked it though. Also so many plot twists??? Like the ending? I neeeed the next book!! The ending didn’t answer my questions!

Tagged a few pages - 66, 74, 91, 116, 163, 198, 311 + 325. Most of these had cute things happening or were where something happened that I wanted to remember.

Also my book got so wrecked because I had it in my school bag a lot. Like the plastic-y stuff that’s on the cover is all peeling and it’s so sad.

Firstly, I loved the dynamic of this book. It was fun, exciting and the characters were perfect. I never knew I needed this space, action-adventure in my life, but now that I have it, I won't be letting it go. IT'S MINE.

Both Jules and Mia were fun characters with diverse backgrounds and personalities. Mia, who is smuggled aboard to scavenge the newly discovered planet meets up with the intelligent Jules, who has been sent on a mission to discover the Undying temple. The Undying being a race of aliens that have unfortunately gone extinct.

This story is hilarious, Amie and Meagan did a marvelous job in shaping this novel. I found it to be an easy read, nothing that would pump your heart and have you on the edge of your seat. It was a book that grabbed my attention and kept it. I do wish that the scenes in Unearthed pushed your intrigue further, made you thoroughly fear the survival of Mia and Jules, but it was one of those books where you could predict the ending of the main characters.

Despite that predictability, the rest of the book remained unknown. I never was able to guess what was happening nest, or where exactly the story was trying to go, and that was something I've missed about reading. I find that too many books these days are incredibly predictable, and even though that's not a major downfall for me, I wish that more books would leave a surprise in the mix.

The characterisation of this novel was amazing. All of the characters, even the extras, felt real. I could relate to every single one of them and it was perfect. I thought the plot was fabulous, despite the small predictability. It was a fabulous book in my mind.

This book is like Marmite, you either enjoy it or don't. Unfortunately, I didn't stick to this world.
