Oh my goodness this book...please-

I don't think this book was meant to be funny, but I was dying listening to the audiobook. Everything was 'romantic' such as the mountains, or the way a room was decorated. The way the Barons men just abandoned him every time the Earls men bested them had me laughing more than any book has made me laugh in a long time. I literally cannot with the way Mary became ill or fainted every time something dramatic happened, she was so frail it was hilarious. Haha I can't, even thinking about it now has me cracking up.

Other than the humor I found in this book, it was actually quite a compelling story. I really liked the cast of characters and found the plot twists quite interesting.

I doubt i will ever pick this book up again or listen to the audiobook again, but it was quite entertaining for a school book. 5/5⭐

It's a nice story but the language is quite archaic, which makes it harder to really get into. If you aren't used to reading the classics, especially the older ones, I wouldn't start here. That said, I did enjoy the story line. There's something really satisfying about it in a fairy tale kind of way. 3.5 stars. I hear her later works are more gripping. We shall see.

A book that, on paper, I should have enjoyed.
It was boring.

I simply didn't have the time. I don't believe I'll start reading this again because we talked about it in class.
