More of 3.5 stars. There were so many story lines that it was difficult to keep everything straight and remember some details that were revealed in the beginning of the book when they became important later on. But I did really enjoy the writing style.
I solidly enjoyed this read. It was quite long but I don't feel that any parts were unnecessary. There were so many different storylines that were intricately woven together and while I loved them all, sometimes it was a bit hard to keep track of everything, especially if I put the book down for a while.
This book took a bit to get into but it was a beautiful and heartbreaking story that is woven together quite well.
Whyyyyyy
Why why why.
Later on I'm going to read this review and think... what's that about? And honestly, I hope I don't remember.

Slow start, interesting conclusion. A little lengthy and not all tidbits were really necessary, making it a little hard to keep track of characters and storylines.
3.5 rounded up - the middle of this one dragged on for me (overall I felt it was longer than needed) but I enjoyed the ending so chose to round up instead of down.
Soooo much happens in this book. So many characters, and so many different time settings and semi-related storylines, between 1862 and now. If they wanted to make this into a movie, they would pretty quickly work out it would have to be a tv series.
Up until now, I've read and enjoyed each of Kate Morton's books but this one didn't work for me. I just don't care about the characters or the meandering plot. This one is going unfinished.
Lots to love here, but way too long and convoluted. I was pretty gripped at first, but half way through Morton introduces whole new character arcs and it really is too late and they didn't add much that couldn't have been included in an easier to follow fashion.
