My kids LOVED this book! They were asking me to read it almost every chance they got. It’s filled with fantasy and adventure. It was fun for me too since I’ve only ever seen the movie. Expectedly, there were differences.
It’s so weird because I remember going to the library with my mom and checking out this book when I was in about the third grade. I remember reading it and being confused because it was different from the movie.
This was my first time picking it up since then. It is such an imaginative and fun story, I wonder why no one has tried to make a version that stays truer to the book? Of course, Judy Garland was perfection, and it would be almost a sin to even try, but still.

This was way darker than I thought it would be -- that scene where the Tin Man kills 40 wolves? Jesus. I barely cared about the characters and story. My kid loved it despite all the scary parts.
