Saga is def worth the hype. The first volume does great world building without sacrificing action. I reeaaally could do without the child sex slavery though which is why it isn’t a five star book for me.
I am intrigued. It does some of the things I really hate in comics, but I think for now I can ignore those and continue with my curiosity for this series.

Loved all of the various alien creatures in this, especially The Stalk, her design was so cool! I’m intrigued to see how Hazel grows up, as she is narrating the story. The amount of sexual content took me aback a little bit, not because it bothered me but I just wasn’t expecting it. I hope to learn more about the Robot Kingdom! Very fun story that made me chuckle and ooh and aah while reading. I’m glad this is in comic book form so I can see all the cool aliens and races and the mix of tech and magic that exists in this world.

I really enjoyed Y the Last Man and so was excited to read this one. Turned out to be not my thing. Here are my notes:
Very explicit, Robots having sex; breast feeding with the nipple showing; and a guy's head gets cut off at the upper jaw and we see a cross-section of his insides.
There was too much shock value for its own sake, or at least that's how I took it. The Bordello Ship's surprised is a child sex slave and when The Will's horror at that made him squish the pimp's head, I was at first wondering why that was the line. There's plenty of other horrible stuff. Then I realized kids are the surest way to get a reader on the character's side by having them save a kid from harm.
Marko's pact of non-violence only to have him kick ass when his family is threatened is a trope. Though, I will say, his breaking his sword after feeling bad about doing it was a good change...until it was the sacrifice the living-tree-cum-spaceship needed in order to have them hitch a ride. Why is that a worthy sacrifice if he wants not to be violent? The protecting his kid ramifications a weaponless Marko introduces, perhaps?
I do like how familiar tech, e.g. updating smart phones, is used to make all the weird races/creature seem more realistic.

I love this world! Finally, female characters written with realistic strength and badass-ery! I loved how the whole graphic novel was set up with the narrator essentially being the love child of an alien version of Romeo and Juliet. This novel is GRAPHIC (excuse the pun) definitely older audiences only and trigger warnings for pretty much everything. Can’t wait for volume 2!
I have no idea what the hell I just read but I really liked it and I want to read more. This is one of the strangest yet most compelling things I've ever read.

Gives Romeo and Juliet vibes (star crossed lovers)) but these two had a kid…
Hope is cute…
I just don’t know if this particular series is for me.

I don't often read graphic novels, but this one was a lot of fun. I initially picked it up because of the stunning art, but the storyline was intriguing. I'm looking forward to the next volume.
Yep. Lotsa boobs, so, I guess, don't read it if that bugs you?
