decided to pick up the first volume of saga after hearing a lot about it online. i was pleasantly surprised! I don’t read much sci-fy and i’m trying to read more graphic novels and comics this year so I thought this would be interesting to try out. the story took off and had me engrossed from the beginning and I really enjoyed the intro to Alana and Marko’s relationship and the balance in their personality. it got pretty dark and heavy at times, which i wasn’t entirely expecting. i’m definitely interested to see how the world building continues over the rest of the series and i will keep going with it!
Very cool story and characters. Brian K. Vaughan has given us another unique comic universe. I'm looking forward to reading volume 2.

I thought that I was just "going to take a quick look at this book" and put it back for a time that I "have more time."
15 minutes later, I had read 40% of the way through.
It is such a fun and quick read, the author and artist combine to quickly teleport the reader into a world that combines Sci-fi and Fantasy, futuristic landscapes and magic all in a classic tale of star-crossed lovers who seem doomed to failure or death yet so far, scratch out a life with their newborn daughter.
I can't wait to find a copy of volume 2. I am literally going to search my list of libraries until I reserve the next one.

the art style was really gorgeous and i am completely enthralled and confused by the world. i also love how many powerful women are in this story so far!

I was going to say that I read this several years ago when it first came out but I'm thinking I really only read the first 2 issues before wandering off for some reason. It's definitely a very good start to a series though and I really like the main characters so far. I am highly suspicious of whether the whole 'pedophile sex trafficking' side story is really going to be necessary for some reason or just something added to be ~edgy~ but everything else was really good. Definitely going to keep reading it this time. Also I'm so glad my cats don't tell me when I'm lying lol

saga is hands-down one of the best series i've ever read. and lucky for me, i got into it a decade after it was released, so i got to fly through all available 54 issues in a week... and then was ~blessed~ with issue #55 coming out in the last couple of weeks after an almost 4 year hiatus. hell yeah.

this series feels like an amalgamation of a bunch of things that i love: sci-fi, politics, anthropomorphism, mesmerizing art ([a:fiona staples|304633|Fiona Staples|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1379339265p2/304633.jpg]'s illustrative talent is quite unbelievable), and space opera, to name a few. i felt really powerful emotions towards all characters that got introduced and some of those emotions became complicated with the more volumes i consumed.
highlights: lying cat (LYING!), the stalk (her introductory panels are unmatched), the horrors, the race of robots & the way they express emotions

The way Brian K. Vaughan writes this couple and makes you immediately get on board with their relationship on page 1 is so impressive. People always describe this series as "Space Romeo and Juliet" and yeah, it is! I just met this couple but if anything happens to them I will scream.
Somehow... I feel like this series is going to be painful.
