saga is hands-down one of the best series i've ever read. and lucky for me, i got into it a decade after it was released, so i got to fly through all available 54 issues in a week... and then was ~blessed~ with issue #55 coming out in the last couple of weeks after an almost 4 year hiatus. hell yeah.
[b:saga, volume 1|15704307|Saga, Volume 1|Brian K. Vaughan|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1486028947l/15704307._SY75_.jpg|19113524] introduces the plight of alana and marko, two lovers caught in a war involving their respective homes: the planet landfall and its moon, wreath. not only is their intergalactic love frowned upon, but alana just birthed her & marko's child - so mercenaries, a robot prince, wreathers, and landfallians are in hot pursuit.
this series feels like an amalgamation of a bunch of things that i love: sci-fi, politics, anthropomorphism, mesmerizing art ([a:fiona staples|304633|Fiona Staples|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1379339265p2/304633.jpg]'s illustrative talent is quite unbelievable), and space opera, to name a few. i felt really powerful emotions towards all characters that got introduced and some of those emotions became complicated with the more volumes i consumed.
highlights: lying cat (LYING!), the stalk (her introductory panels are unmatched), the horrors, the race of robots & the way they express emotions

The way Brian K. Vaughan writes this couple and makes you immediately get on board with their relationship on page 1 is so impressive. People always describe this series as "Space Romeo and Juliet" and yeah, it is! I just met this couple but if anything happens to them I will scream.
Somehow... I feel like this series is going to be painful.

That was epic, and the fantasy/sci-fi fan in me is wondering where this has been my whole life
Vaughn is a solid writer, and it comes through in Saga. It has a similar sense of humor and character that Y: The Last Man did, but at the same time it's a more matured story. Vaughn is going over the top with the contents of Saga, and it's turning out great. He's clearly having fun with this, and it absolutely is showing up. If you liked Y, or any of Vaughan's other work, you'd like this.
As for the artwork: it complements the story very well. The colors are bright and eye-catching, the lines are clean, and the pages bounce between simple and straightforward and fairly intricate and absorbing as a complement to the story. So it works on the visual level just as well as the mental level.

Saga es otra cosa! Impactante, politico, romantico, todo .... una de las mejores novelas graficas que he leido hasta ahora (y si, lei Watchmen y V de Vendetta tambien).
