I ended up taking this book out of the library simply because I was looking for an audiobook for my bus commute to school this semester and I remembered hearing that this book had received good reviews. So I figured, why not?

I wasn’t really sure what this, book was about when I picked it up. A psychics’ daughter and a group of private school boys. My best guess was that this was going to be a like a supernatural version of Gossip Girl.

Boy, was I wrong.

The best way I have of describing this book is it’s like a young adult urban-fantasy adventure story… almost ala National Treasure… but without Nicholas Cage (I hear you all complaining about the proposed lack of Cage, but hear me out). There is adventure and mystery and a passionate treasure hunt for supernatural and hidden energy. There is magic and murder and mayhem. And most of all, this book is written and drawn out so beautifully. While all of the turns and surprises didn’t completely shock me, the road to discovering their truth was fascinating. The characters are drawn so well, and the setting was breathtakingly vivid.

I also have to applaud the audiobook narrator on this one. He did such a good job with the accents (the story is set in Virginia and many of the characters are described as having a drawl to their voices) and with the different tones as the POV switched by chapter. His husky voice brought chills down my arm as he emphatically whispered the name of the ancient Welsh King “Glendower” as Gansey.

I’m thrilled that there are 2 (soon to be 3) more books in this series, and can’t wait to dive in to the rest of the story.

“In that moment, Blue was a little in love with all of them. This magic. Their quest. Their awfulness and strangeness. Her raven boys.”

I really liked this book and here are my views on it....

POSITIVE
*I totally loved Gansey! He is sooo cute and adorable. I especially love the way he is so protective over his friends and how much he cares for them.

*I felt so bad for Adam. That fucking dad of his beating him up because he has no life. I am VERY happy that he FINALLY moved out from that house. And what type of a mother is his mum?! How can she let her son be beaten everyday, just cause his dad felt like it or found something Adam had done 'wrong'.

*Blue's character didn't really effect me. I dont really have any positive feelings about her.

NEGATIVE
*HOW DARE BLUE 'GO OUT' WITH ADAM, WHEN SHE KNOWS GANSEY'S HER TRUE LOVE?! I don't care about the fact that Adam is going to do something wrong in the following books! That kid does not need to be hurt AGAIN.

*I don't really get why this book couldn't only be one or two books. I hope that Maggie Stiefvater doesn't ruin the book. The maximum amount of books she should write for this 'series' should be 3.

*Finally, my last point will be that this is kind of a very basic story. What I mean by that is that you can guess what is going to happen in the other books. UNLESS, she decides to add a stupid twist and RUIN the series.

I am very sorry if my opinion has hurt/offended you in anyway of form, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion and this is mine.

UPDATE
This book is the new Perfect Chemistry for me!!! (for those of you that don't know, I LOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEE PERFECT CHEMISTRY.) I CANNOT wait till September for the next book to come out!!

P.S. Apparently I was wrong, there are going to be 4 books in this series....Well, I guess more books for me to love!!!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh how wrong I was.So naive. I'm sorry the 0 amount of people who have read this. (21/07/2015)

Surpreendente!
O livro toma seu tempo até a história começar a engrenar, porém a autora constrói um universo tão palpável que, mesmo em capítulos que não adicionarão muita coisa para a história, o livro te mantém preso, querendo saber mais sobre os personagens e o mundo.
