fun book

I can reread this over and over again. I love this book

Without question, this is what should've been the basis for the 2017 movie. While not scary, it does have a great story that moves at a smooth pace and told in a cinematic way for you to perfectly imagine it in your mind. Ramses is now awakened in 1915 and now has to make a life for himself in a new century, while filling romance in the process. Immediately your hooked in the plot and goods thoughts on early 20th century life. This may be an unpopular opinion, but I liked this more than Interview with a Vampire. Liked its simple plot, dialogue, and giving a type of monster that isn't that popular a dignified story.

Que onda con la escena de Cleopatra y la necrofilia

No.

I loved Anne Rice's writing when I was younger and I've read a good number of her earlier works, including the Vampire Chronicles. The Mummy is by far my favorite. It has a sort of Victorian sensibility about it, like Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, that I really like and that is quite different from her other novels. It's supposed to be the first in a series, but no sequel was ever published. It's sad, too, because I'm not a fan of her recent writing at all.

A great romantic fantasy. Fun, sexy with likeable characters.

Takes way, way too long to get to the smutty bits, and man, are those bits *nothing* like the Violin heyday of Rice I remember gleefully reading as a teen in my tiny rural library in the mid 90s. Bummer!
Not nearly as much escapism as I was looking for, but definitely fluff. Totally agree with the reviewer that sees AR as desperately wanting to be an immortal gay man.
Also... why does Rameses have blue eyes??? Why make him caucasian?? And the plant thing? So bizarre.

I felt that the story was a little slow. It may or may not be intended as a horror novel. However, this is more of a forbidden love story of sorts.

This is my favorite Anne Rice novel. I think I fell in love with Ramses when I read this.
