Ik heb heel veel geleerd over de historie en huidige situatie in Afghanistan. Wat blijft hangen bij mij is dat ik het gedrag van de mannen niet begrijp. Zaria is een dappere en belangrijke vrouw. Ik had de luister versie en ik moet vanwege de vreemde beklemtoning vaak terugluisteren want er ontstonden hele rare woorden en zinnen. Dat is wel heel jammer maar doet aan de inhoud niets af.

I really enjoyed this one. I hadn't heard much about Zarifa before, so I enjoyed the opportunity to do a deep dive into her life and thoughts on Afghanistan.

The book starts with her childhood and then tracks her rise to being a mayor and then ultimately the downfall of Afghanistan to the Taliban.

It's a quick read.
