Lullaby is a thought provoking, darkly comedic novel about power. What would you do if you had the power to kill anyone just by reciting the lines of a poem? While researching SIDS crib deaths, the protaganist of this novel discovers an ancient culling song that kills the listener. I enjoyed the dark humor of this novel and also that it made me think about things like power and the influence of the media on society.

Started off really good, but the second half fell off, and by the end, I was like, “HUH?!”

This is the 1st and so far only Palahniuk book I've read. I picked it up before some of his more notable novels for somewhat silly reasons - mainly because it was shorter then Choke and because the summary sounded less depressing then some of the other options. The book was enjoyable and interesting but while reading it I kept getting the feeling that the story is just missing that tiny little extra fraction it needed to become more then just OK. It did however convince me that the Palahniuk is an original and complex writer and I will most likely read some more of his novels in the near future.

Been too long since I've read this. I don't remember hating it, but I wasn't blown away either.

I am not a reader. This was my first book read by choice, and it was an exciting adventure. I didn't know I could read that fast with ADHD! 😂 Usually, books take me weeks to finish at least, and I had this one done on days. Great job, CP.
