This wasn't going to be a 4 star read until the end. It's a slow, tough start—trying to figure out the rules of the game, what's happening to the narrator and everyone around them. I can't say I ever fully understood, but by the last quarter, I was hooked. This is probably a story that would be easier to follow as a movie or tv show, since it was pretty difficult to visualize all the different characters and their connections to each other. Also, it's interesting that a major theme was redemption because I did not find any characters particularly redeemable. It took me a long time to warm up to the narrator, so fair warning, these people aren't likable!

This book was full of twists and turns, some of which I found more compelling than others.
The big twist that the whole plot was some cooked-up punishment a la Black Mirror kind of felt unnecessary to me. It didn't ruin the rest of the book, but it introduced a lot of moral quandaries that I don't think added much. OTOH, the Evelyn twist? IMMACULATE.
All in all, though, I definitely couldn't put it down and I would recommend it!

I really liked this at the start. The fatphobia about 20% of the way through soured me and felt like bad writing. It never got me fully on board again after that. I found that the reveals in the ending weren’t seeded very well throughout the story, and, so, fell pretty flat

The story itself is very unique. However, I was confused throughout most of it, which is why I gave it a lower rating. It was difficult keeping track of the different characters and their personalities. The concept was good though.

loved it, the characters and the plot were intriguing, and i loved the different perspectives of the characters and the groundhog day style setting. but i felt like there was too much going on and i couldnt really keep track of any of the characters except anna and evelyn.

Every puzzle piece draws you closer to the answer, but not in the way you think.
My advice: Don't try too hard to solve it, play along with the main character as the story unfolds - the ending is worth it.
