The book description is everything that happens in the book... No twist. The description is the summary of the whole story.
And one more thing.
I don't usually care if a book is written in first or third person but the author is mixing it. Holly's and Saskia's POVs are written in first person and Lucas' POV is written in third person.
Why?

I probably picked this one up for the wrong reason -setting. It was your run-of-the-mill mystery with a meh twist at the end, but i wanted more about everything. I didnt grow to care about any of the characters or what they were doing. I finished the book and kept reading mostly hoping for more description of where the story took place. The one good thing that came from this is my exploration of Thailand and planning a future vacation.

This may be one of the worst “thrillers” I’ve ever read. Dull, lackluster characters with no real development or history, and it requires suspension of belief at a level I’ve yet to really encounter. All in, this is a hard pass and I can’t imagine any demographic that would enjoy it.

This really is the holiday from hell!
It took a little while to get going, and I’m not sure whether the four, first-person-POVs worked for me. At times I found myself wondering whether an omnipresent narrator would have made for a tenser atmosphere. It felt melodramatic and I struggled to relate to the characters who could be annoying and frustrating at times. This one probably wasn’t ideal for me.
Having said that it was an easy listen with an interesting final twist that I didn’t have to think about, which would probably make it a perfect holiday read if you’re after something that won’t tax the grey cells.
With thanks to NetGalley and Harper Collins UK audio for the chance to listen to an ARC.
The trip is out now.

My first read by Phoebe Morgan and one that takes you to the gorgeous location of Thailand. Perhaps one better suited to a summer holiday read but I loved imagining the fabulous weather and beaches whilst sat indoors watching the snow fall outside.
The Trip is a fabulous easy to read thriller. It kept me entertained over a 2 day sitting and probably would have been finished in a day had it not been for the fact I had to go to sleep!
The two couples, Theo and Saskia and Lucas and Holly, are very different and give a good balance to the mix of characters. There is a great use of multiple point of views chapters so you get an invested interest and detailed thoughts of each of them.
The twists and turns throughout were brilliant and I definitely wasn't able to guess how it was all going to pan out.
I'm a big fan of a destination thriller and this is definitely one I'd recommend.
