3.5 rounded up. The world in this book is really wel realized and all of the characters other then the POV are interesting and fun.

Zorian is such an annoying asshole. He does emotional progress over the course of the book but the first half of this book I almost put it down because he is insufferable.

The fact that this was original serialize can be grating. The traditional arc of a novel is not there and several chapters feel like they could be edited out.

With those big negatives out of the way it feels amazing to be back into a wizard school. The magic system is so much more realized and rules based than Harry Potter. There is less magical creature, the ones you meet are beyond cool.

I want to keep reading but I am afraid arc 2 will be the same time loop and I cannot do that.
