Jennette takes control of her narrative and it’s empowering and enlightening. It is hard to envision all she endured for the sake of a loved one and each time I was sure she was on the mend there was another road block to her healing. I resonated deeply with many of her thoughts and I really appreciated her no nonsense writing. No fluff. No sugar coating. Just her honest thoughts despite high profile names and family being on the receiving end—I believe it’s deserved. I’m glad she addressed it with such ruthless honesty.
She has a great talent throughout the story for making you feel like her thoughts are yours. You feel connected and able to see yourself as six year old Jennette, eleven year old Jennette, twenty one year old Jennette, etc.
I hope she continues writing—I really enjoyed her writing style. It was easily a five star read for me.

Oof that was rough to get through. Jennette McCurdy is a really strong writer and I was impressed with the way her voice seemed to mature as the book progressed throughout her life. It did a really good job of driving home how young she was when she was subjected to so much abuse.
