I read this series after the urging of my best friend; who is obsessed with wolves and probably a little biased to it. I read this series over a vacation in the White Mountains, in a snowy setting similar to the book. I am writing this review a year or two after reading this book. I barely remember the plot, and that shows me just how interesting i thought it was. From what I do remember, I was complaining to my mom about how the book was boring. And how I was hoping it would get better. And why I had wasted my money on the whole series before I read it. I believe the only reason it has three stars is that I don't like giving bad reviews. But, ok. Onto the book.

I just read the summary of the book. Oh my god. I might just have to bring my rating down a star. I mean, really? Maybe its not my style, but a girl attacked by wolves when she was little, and forming an attachment to one with yellow eyes, and thinking about it her whole life. Let me just take a moment here and say, do any female characters in books have lives? I mean really, would any person just reminisce about something that happened to them when they little for their whole life? I mean, she sees him sometimes in her yard, but come on. If I saw the same wolf in my yard multiple times I would think I'm hallucinating. It's just so...... cheesy. I feel like I've heard the story before. Ok, moving on.

Is it sad the only part I remembered about this book through these years was the fact Isabel jogged, and it gave her great legs? Yeahhhh.....

Oh yeah. The fact they turn wolf-y with cold. That sounds so original. Oh no, its starting to (insert weather/time of day), you have to leave me! I can think of at least 3 other books where that happens.

Yup. And injecting fricking menangitis in the will give them a fever and make them stay human. That totally sounds legit.

Ok, I honestly do not care about this book to go on more. Or review the others. Why am I here again?

DNF

I don’t know what it is about this book but I just can’t get into it at all. I’m just bored reading it and would rather be reading the Raven Cycle than this.

Maybe I’ll give this series another shot in the future but for now I’m throwing in the towel.

At the begining of the book, i didn't like it. But later story became better. It was good. If you love supernatural, you can read it.

So, it wasn't my favorite YA book by any stretch. Yes, there were definitely elements that could be compared to Twilight in that we have a super cute young man who becomes a wolf, but the writing and storylines are (thankfully) much better written.

I have recently read many a YA book that reads much more like an adult book, or has deeper themes mixed in. This just wasn't one of those. It's pretty straightforward. Girl falls in love with a boy who is, by the way, a wolf when it gets cold. That's pretty much the depth of it.

I read it in a couple days as it's a super fast read - not horrific, just not great.

People seemed to love or hate this book. I feel somewhere in the middle. I wasn't fond of it, but I didn't think it was terrible. Somehow it kept me reading until the end and didn't completely bore me. I even consider reading the next in the series, but not quite sure I will. The concept of her wolves was strange, but I kind of liked that. It would probably be more of a 2 star book personally for me, but I give it an extra star for keeping me interested to finish and not want to just abandon it. Also I can see where some people would love this read.

This book is heavily Romance with paranormal elements (think Twilight). Though I am reminded of the NA genre of romance in how things are set up. There are two people that fall in love and the whole book is their interaction (obsessively so). There's a little bit going on outside that, but nothing to pay attention to, really nothing else seems to happen (even when there kind of is some other stuff going on) other than their interactions. (think of things like edge of never, or thoughtless, but add paranormal characters).

If you are going to pick up this book keep in mind what you are picking up. It is not like her Raven Boys series if that's what you expect. It is more romantic YA/NA book.

Insa la recomandarea unei bune prietene am decis sa-i dau o sansa.
Shiver a avut doua mari avantaje, in ceea ce ma priveste.
In schimb, in afara acestor minusuri, ceea ce mi-a atras atentia a fost descrierea relatiei dintre Grace si Sam. Desi nu exista o tensiune sexuala in adevaratul sens al expresiei, era prezenta totusi o anumita retinere in gesturile lor care mi s-a parut de-a dreptul adorabila. Pentru mine, aceasta a reprezentat tot deliciul cartii.

Per total, Shiver mi-a placut in masura in care poate sa-mi placa o carte paranormal romance, gen despre care am marturisit deja ca nu este pasiunea mea. Insa este o lectura foarte usoara si placuta, imbibata in scene dulci care pot atinge o coarda sensibila, cum s-a intamplat in cazul meu.
