Read in audiobook format (highly recommended due to author performances throughout book).

Reading this after Steve Martin’s Born Standing Up perfectly contrasts their different personalities, and both books are as delightful as their authors.

Funnier than I expected. Sadder than I expected. I honestly didn’t know much about Martin’s life before reading this book and was unfamiliar with a lot of the people he mentioned. Nonetheless it was very entertaining the way he shared his memories and experiences, his descriptions really put you in the moment.

Listened to the audiobook version which is read by Martin Short featuring all of the impersonations, songs, and bits as only he can.

Can’t believe he didn’t mention Treasure Planet.

A bit too long, but charming, funny, and unexpectedly moving on audio.

The way he described Toronto in the 70s as "Paris in the 20s" is just the most succinct way you could put it. Just the most brilliant comic minds all hanging out in shitty basements and doing shows and characters that would one day become legendary.
