Cute -- I'm going to try it at storytime this summer.

Read for Librarian Book Group
By the time book group came around I didn't actually remember this book. But it's a fun little vignette and a good summertime read.

LOVED it

Fun and entertaining, this bright book is a silly and well designed book for early readers. However, I wonder how necessary it is to make a book that reinforces the childhood worry of watermelon seeds. Why do watermelon seeds get this bad rap anyway?

A gator + watermelon = a bigtime fun lapbook!

I don't normally read the Goodreads description for childrens' books, but I read the description for this one and I actually found myself agreeing with it as I read this book. The comedic timing is perfect, the pacing well-structured for reading aloud or for a new reader to read it on their own. The narrating crocodile is a wonderfully imaginative little guy who goes through all the fears most kids have when they swallow a watermelon seed. The book won't lay those worries to rest, but it does make them seem silly... and of course watermelon is too good to resist for long!

June 2016 - Ben loved all the watermelon, but I wonder if some of the humor is lost on kids growing up with seedless watermelons? Or maybe the fear just hadn't occurred to Ben - he's seen a few seeds but I'm not sure if he quite grasps the seed -> fruit concept.

September 2017 - Ben thought it was hilarious this time around.

Cute. This is a nice book for story time, and possibly playgroup with some pages pinned.

This guy went to my school and I met him at a conference -- ha! delighted to see his work in a mass market format. Also, a funny and engaging book, which deserves its award thoroughly.
