DNF. Let’s be honest, I barely even started. Physical and sexual assault are not romantic. 1 in 4 women, and likely way more, have experienced sexual assault. Making it “romantic” is fucking gross. What kind of female author writes this anti-woman misogynistic crap?

Under 500 pages should’ve taken me 2 days to finish this book. But I had to force my through it just to finish. I’ve discovered I don’t like high school enemies to lovers tropes.

This was a TikTok recommendation.

Sloane and her brother Bru become orphans and throughly very generous family friend they are able to move and start an elite private school. Well unfortunately Sloane makes enemies of the popular click at the school.

I liked how tough Sloane is but I wanted her to be more mature. I tried to remind myself that she is still a 18-year-old young lady and of course was whiny.

The writing in this book was awkward at one point I could tell the author wrote a later chapter first (or early on). Parts of the book seem repetitive. I hate the continuous hinting at the mystery chapter after chapter without any payoff. I doing have a problem with "bully romance" but I wasn't convinced of Dorian and Sloane's relationship.

HARD DNF on this book

I was really intrigued by this spin-off. Most main characters have mommy/daddy issues and I was afraid how the series would treat the characters I loved so much in court high and court university. But this book was SO GOOD. Dorian is the most amazing bully and really liked seeing the connections between all the legacy kids. Also, Sloane is such a great character. And that plot twist ending!

It was a good book, I just did not realize it was a series of several books and I have a hard time staying interested after the first.
