Thank you to BookSirens for this ARC.

A classically cosy urban fantasy: cheesy and irreverent; a short but fun piece of entertainment.

I was irked by the fact that the main character kept going on about needing sugar/ caffeine, but that is perhaps rather a niche bone to pick! The characters were sweet, the story was simple, and the setting was charming. I would continue this series quite happily.

A wonderful cozy mystery, with wonderful characters and a fun mystery!

Harper arrived in Havenwood expecting her inheritance, however Granny Bea didn't make it easy for her. Plus, the family bookstore was broken into and some rare books are missing. Throw in a talking rabbit, cute neighbor, and an old childhood friend, and you have a wonderful cozy mystery!
The story had some twists and turns and was a fun ride from start to finish!
I honestly enjoyed that the chapters had names! I don't find that in too many books now and it's always a delight when I come across them! I loved all the jokes and references in the story.

Harper has cherished memories of the summer she spent in her great grandmother’s bookstore, Spellbooks. Raised as an Army brat, she longs for a place to set down roots. Believing that she is the heir, she arrives in Havenwood, ready to take over upon Granny Bea’s passing. But all is not well. First, she discovers Spellbooks has been broken into and rare books have been stolen. Than she learns she must compete for ownership against a cousin she never knew, the unpleasant Thaddeus. Unsure of who to trust, she must put together a winning proposal and maybe solve the mystery of the missing books.

A terrific start to a new paranormal series. Havenwood is a magical town, with many supernatural creatures. Harper is a witch with minor elemental magic that comes in handy while sleuthing. She is a charming character, full of kindness and intelligence. Surrounding her is a delightful cast of characters - Luna, a talking rabbit & Granny Bea’s familiar, Gideon, a gargoyle and night watchman at the store, Thistle, a dryad living in the garden behind the store, Bella, her childhood friend who lives at the B&B with her parents Honey & Antonio, Grimgor, a small giant, & Finn, a Druid tattoo artist. Plenty of twists along the way as Harper puts together her plans and tries to solve the case. An even bigger surprise with how the winner is determined in the bookshop battle. Full of humor with excellent world building. I look forward to exploring more of Havenwood.

A really good cozy paranormal mystery is one of my favorites, so I was excited to try this one by an author I don’t think I’ve read before. Immediately, I knew I was going to love this. It’s so cute, darling, charming, and fun. I really liked the characters, the setting, and the mystery. TBH, I didn’t quite get the whodunit part and why, but it was only a little confusing. I read fast, and it could have been me. Otherwise, this is a very delightful, well-written, engaging series starter with lovely characters, and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next one. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

This is a well written fast paced mystery which is both whimsical and quirky.

I loved the colourful cast of characters, especially Luna the talking rabbit. These characters and the story will brighten up any dreary day.

I thoroughly enjoyed this paranormal mystery and I am looking forward to the next instalment in the series.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I absolutely loved this book. So quirky, colourful characters and a great plot, red herrings and a mystery to solve. I can't wait to read the next one!

This is my new favourite cosy mystery, featuring magic and lots of books.. what’s not to love!
I loved Harper as a character, and getting to know her & follow her journey through this book. I also loved that platonic love was an important theme through the book, and that there was a dash of romance, but that it wasn’t the focus of the story. I am definitely going to be reading the rest of this series at some point, I can’t wait to read more about this wonderful, magical little town and all its inhabitants

The Mystery in the Margins by L.L. Gray is Book 1 in the Havenwood Paranormal Cozy Mysteries. I found the characters throughout the book to be very relatable - the one's I especially loved were Harper, Bella, and Luna. However, almost all of the characters throughout the book were likeable. Havenwood is a charming little town that has some magical parts to it.

I loved how the story unfolded and we learned more and more about Havenwood, the locals, and Spellbooks. I loved all of the twists the story and plot took.

It starts out with Harper returning to Havenwood after she received a summons from her great-grandmother's attorney about her estate. Harper is all in for making Havenwood and Spellbooks her own when a wrench gets thrown into her dream.  There's 2 heirs to Granny Bea's estate - Harper and her long lost cousin. But that's just the cherry on the cake for Harper as she arrived in town to discover Spellbooks was an active crime scene.  Someone broke into Spellbooks and stole the most valuable books Granny Bea had on display.  With a town full of suspects and a looming deadline approaching to decide who would inherit Spellbooks, Harper has quite the adventure on her hands.

While reading I had my own list of suspects that I thought could be the culprit. As we started to check them off the list I started to wonder what I had missed and who else it could have been. I had a main suspect - The one who was so intrigued by the pirate and the treasure and was conveniently out of town.  When we met the actual culprit though I wasn't expecting it. I had so many questions. Then when Harper discovered the little Bee's I, like Harper, had more questions. I think the book had a good way to end it as it leaves readers coming back for more.

Overall, The Mystery in the Margins was a wonderful read and I can't wait to read Book 2!
