WHAT. A. FUCKING. RIDE. this book is so dark, and so twisty, and yet I could NOT put this down. Read it in a few hours. Loved it. A little concerned about how much I loved it given its content - but WOW WOW WOW.

First of all, why did I have to wait over 200 pages for spice? Unacceptable in a dark romance, in my humble opinion. Secondly, there are only a handful of spicy scenes and the majority of those are only moderately spicy. This book was interesting and so weird. I’m annoyed at everyone who freaked the fuck out about the ice cream scene. It was definitely less disgusting than some elements that came to light prior to the ice cream. Still gross but not worth the hype if I say so myself. The book is pretty decent but I wouldn’t categorize it as dark romance cause there’s not enough spice. All in all, a quick and engaging book that’s easy to get through in a few hours.

Butcher and Blackbird by Brynne Weaver. 5/5 ⭐️Look, when your friend texts you “this book got me through hours of labor and had me laughing during my labor” you’re legally obligated to read the book. Now I as a criminal Justice major with a soft spot for romance, let me tell you, I devoured this book. The banter between Rowan and Sloane had me giggling and kicking my feat. I also really enjoyed Sloane as a character because I love her whole vendetta against predatory men vibe she has going on! I’d saw read this book if you enjoy dark humor and the show Dexter! The trigger warnings can be found in the start of the book, there is too many to list.

Honestly, I ate this book up. It’s seriously one of the best books that I’ve read in a while.

I simply enjoyed it a lot, I loved the connection between the characters and I thought the plot was interesting.

This was the first dark romance book I’ve ever read, it only took me a few hours to finish since I just couldn’t put it down.

I’ll definitely be on the lookout for more Brynne Weaver books and hopefully I can see Butcher and Blackbird sometime in the future!

If you liked the show "Dexter," then you might like this book.  Two serial killers who only target "bad" serial killers get together.  The book is very funny, and there is lots of sex.  I can see why it's a TikTok favorite.  The author nicely gives you a two-page warning of content triggers at the beginning of the book, so you can decide if this is something you'd want to read.  I found it entertaining, but I tend to like the macabre.

I found this to be a quirky love story between two serial killers. I felt that it focused a lot on the romance moreso than the actual plot, which wasn't bad, but I was expecting more. Coming from someone who loves watching Criminal Minds, I wanted more of the darkest, depraved bits usually seen in dark romance. Overall, I felt the tone of this was unexpectedly light and almost humorous. I wanted more spice, but the plot and romance definitely went in a completely different direction than anticipated. I also correctly guessed the plot twist at the end, so I found the predicability a little...meh.

This is definitely a cute little palette cleanser that I would probably read again for a bit of "light reading" but I definitely won't be partaking in the massive hype I have seen for this book online.
