This book made me roll my eyes a lot of times; it felt like a workout.
One of the things that annoys me in a book is when they always say, "we're just friends" but they're obviously not "just friends"? It's so stupid and frustrating. And it didn't help that both FMC and MMC were boring. I don't really care to know more about them.
This is the second book I DNFed. Now that I'm comfortable doing that, I will no longer waste my time reading books that just annoy me.

Never thought I’d fall in love with a man named Lucas, but here we are
This was not great, to be honest. I was really excited to learn more about Rosie, but I think this book fell into the issue of making the main characters not have much of a personality and having a little too many romance book stereotypes. I felt like the two main characters were just so physically attracted to each other that we didn’t get much more development on an emotional level. There were also parts that should have just been cut (her family scenes for example). I feel like the book would have been stronger if all the focus was on the two leads. So, I finished it because it was an easy read but it’s not quite the level of The Spanish Love Deception.
3.5 stars. This was a cute book. The friends to lovers element is my personal preference, with the added spice of fake dating. The tension between these two is THICK and boy howdy this is a slow burn for a short book.
What kept this book just shy of 4 stars was actually the ending. Lucas being afraid that he couldn’t give enough to Rosie was absolutely believable, but then he said he didn’t doubt she wanted him, just that she wouldn’t want him forever. And then he realized she loved him by reading the book. So it felt like either miscommunication (my least favorite trope ever) or it is super inconsistent with everything Rosie has ever said and done. I think I would have preferred him just leave it with “I was scared and confused and I went to therapy and understand I shouldn’t have left you in the airport without a reason.” The stuff with Olly also felt a little clunky and sort of shoehorned purely to drive the romance plot, but that’s not the end of the world to me.
BUT! Still a wonderfully sweet and gentle epilogue where all is well. Will definitely continue to pick up books by Elena Armas.

the last book (and only other book she’s written) by elena armas changed my life. she is a fantastic author. this book had the same effect on me. the yearning for what better be always puts me in a chokehold, and the effect was no less with this one. i loved this book. it made me want to reread the first one, and so excited for all of elena’s next books. i would happily give this book a 9/10.
I'm in love with Lucas Martín and Rosalyn Graham. I loved feeling the of being in New York and seeing these two people find each other in a strange and confusing time for both of them. This book made me feel butterflies again, and as a woman who's been with my man for over am decade, the butterflies haven't been the same newly-in-love-flying-all-over in a while. Thank you, Elena, for reminding me of what that feels like
So bored I skipped their first time and skimmed the last 15%
