A beautifully adapted version of one of my favorite novels in verse. The watercolor illustrations are incredible and add a lot to the story. Highly recommend!

An amazing adaptation of an amazing book. I love the way Novgorodoff separates the memories and the storytelling from what’s happening in the immediate in the elevator- dark gray watercolor vs the more realistic impressions. This was more separated and real for me than the novel. There was an immediacy to Will’s experience that the watercolor brought to life. A worthy read. Why does the title page say grades 10-12 and 14 and up? The violence is a little gory, I suppose- I mean, there’s blood—but the watercolor keeps it impressionistic.

This is a great story about the cycle of violence. The art made the story much more emotional.

The original is one of my favorites, so I wasn't sure how I'd feel about the GN version. I loved it.
While I do enjoy imagining the characters while reading prose, the illustrations added made the story even more real. Interpretations may have been different from mine, but powerful nonetheless.
Recommended to anyone who loves the original or whom has never read before. Frame-worthy artwork that gutted me as much as Reynolds' words did the first time.
