Such a good YA heist book, I don’t read these too often, I do find heists to be better watched than read, but this books had the perfect amount of description that I felt like I was watching each scene as it played out! When the book started I was curious how the heist would be the bulk of the book, but as I was reading it, and came across all the twists and turns I fully understood why the book started as it did. The characters were all flushed out, I loved how you got to know some interesting things about each of the heist members, but also the outsiders.

The pacing was well written, as every time you think they’ve gotten away with the heist, another twist or problem is thrown in! Kevin was a wonder problem that kept probleming but also added a lot of humor to the story as well! Great, enjoyable read from start to finish!

A good pacing for a peculiar heist that happens during a wedding.
Olivia's father is marrying for the third time, and he has expelled his teenage daughter from his house.
She wants her inheritance and revenge not just for her but for her mom.
Olivia gathers a team of those who were wronged before, and they join her, each with a skill. They are hilarious, and the plan is great.
Her ex showing up at the wedding shakes things a little. Also... some of the guests notice the heist, and instead of stopping them, they join the revenge.
Very fun read. They have chess pieces code names, and I love the teacher McCoy with his guilt and second guessing while helping them.

This is the first YA book I have read by this writing duo, and I'm happy to say I enjoyed every moment of it! It was exactly the kind of fun heist thriller that I was wanting.

I appreciated how well-paced the story was. Starting with a bang, the entire book takes place at the wedding, which I actually appreciated. No time was wasted showing the build-up to the heist and information, as well as backstory, unfolded without breaking the flow of the story itself.

Olivia was an incredibly interesting main character to read. I love a revenge story, but it was compelling to see the added level of nuance in her characterization throughout the story. Yes, she wants revenge on her father, but she also enjoys the thrill of the heist itself.

Throughout the story, there is an ongoing romantic subplot involving Olivia and her ex-boyfriend Jackson. I enjoyed the balance between Live trying to keep the particulars of her heist from her ex, who is constantly in the way trying to get her to talk things out with him, while at the same time she's trying to resist the pull that she very much does not want not feel for him. While there is a minuscule hint of a love triangle, nothing ever comes of it, which I appreciated because those two had a far better dynamic as two friends who understand the seductive draw of thievery. The second chance romance between Olivia and Jackson, on the other hand, shines much brighter. Not only did the pair have good chemistry, but I also enjoyed seeing how well they fit together despite being so different, and how Jackson comes to understand and try and support her need for revenge despite not wanting her to do anything illegal.

The cast of characters in this book were another highlight for me. Each character was so much fun and felt unique in their own right, making their different interactions with each other some of my favorite moments of the whole book. The MVPs, however, were most definitely Kevin (in all his meddlesome annoyingness) and Mr. McCoy (with his constant crises of consciousness).

Overall, this book was just pure fun. I loved the heist element, and how much of a devious mastermind Olivia was. If you're looking for a fun, fast-paced thrill ride to kick off your summer, then be sure to check out this book.

Cute YA book that has an “Ocean 11”’s feel. Oliva Owens wants revenge. Her father cheated on her mom, kicked them out of their home, and cut her off from any inheritance she may have gotten. When is the best time to steal what she feels is rightfully hers? During her father’s third wedding, of course!

I’m a huge fan of these two authors and their YA books so I was really excited about this one, especially since it seemed a little different than their usual romance route. It took me a little bit to really get into the story at first. I felt like I had been dropped in the middle of it and was lost, but as it got going, things were explained and I had a great time reading it. With heist stories, you absolutely have to suspend your belief in reality a little bit, but that’s was part of the fun for me. Olivia was a fantastic character who had a lot of depth and complexity to her. I loved her ragtag crew and how close they all became throughout the story. I did guess one twist, but it was a good one so I was not mad about it. Honestly, I’d love a book two if they’re up for it. I’d love to see these characters again, especially Kevin who was simultaneously cringey and endearing.
CW: infidelity, divorce, emotional abuse, mentions of a car accident

Thank you @littlebrown @netgalley for a copy of this book. I will start by saying I am not the right audience for this book and may work better for the intended audience.

This one did not work for me. I don't know why I didn't DNF it - I guess I was curious how it would turn out.

This is about Olivia who is 17 year old pulling a heist on her dad's wedding day. I find it unbelievable that 1. An adult would be part of the heist and 2 that it was so easy to pull off with all that twists and turns.

Obviously there is a lot of resentment with Olivia and her das and nothing was resolved between that. There was just too many unbelievable plots that made this a meh for me. There is zero character development as the story focuses on the day of the heist.

I did enjoy the humor sprinkled through out the story.

Pacing was just not what it needed to be and at 33% nothing had really happened with the heist and so this pacing just didn’t work for me to keep me engaged.
