The composition and flow of the story was beautiful, the art as flowy as time and it greatly emphasized the passage of time. The details of the wrinkles, the dream-like sequences, it's something that you watch flash through your eyes rather than read.
My grandfather passed many years ago from a brain injury that made his memory difficult. He'd forget us and speak about people long passed. This book was a gentle reminder for me about the things that we've done before that used to something so common. I only have one grandparent left from both sides of my parents, and while I vowed to never forget them, it's hard to remember it all: how pa would buy out whole tubs of candy that I like, how ma would spend hours in front of her vanity with me watching and giving her her tools, how tatay would put on music at full volume and invite me to dance: two flat-footed bad dancers in a creaky old house. Remembering is painful because they're gone, but the happiness we spent together was something I would never want to forget.

Still could not get over how beautiful the art style is!

Thank you Netgalley for letting me read this book in return for an honest review.
This was so achingly beautiful. The art was stunning, Forget Me Not shows how Clemence, a student and actress, breaks her Grandmother out of a nursing home so they can go on a road trip. Obviously, breaking someone out (especially with health issues) is not a good thing to do but this was so beautiful and you can see why Clemence does what she does.
I don't recommend for younger readers as it handles heavy topics such as Alzheimer's.
Rating: 5⭐

I love this!
This graphic novel is about Clémence and her grandmother with dementia. Her grandmother often tries to escape from her nursing home. One day Clémence decides to break her grandmother out of her nursing home and thanked her on a trip.
It’s such a great story about dementia and shows the struggle of the people with dementia and the people around them. This story let’s you think about how we treat people with dementia. In nursing homes they most of the time are seen as problems and treat them as children. And yes of course it can be exhausting because they forget, but that does not mean we need to tread them in a mean or irritated way. They are still people even if they forget that they are 28 not 24. .
The story was heartwarming and heartbreaking at times. It’s was great to see how Clémence developed over the trip and how her grandmother helped her solve some stuff out (even if grandma did not know she helped). It helped me think about how I tread my grandparents and how easy it is to when your are a teenager get irritated by them.
I loved loved the art style. I just shan’t to print spreads and put them on a wall. I loved the pastels and how the author some times told the story without any dialogue. This was overall amazing and when I am in need of a heart warming read i wil definitely pick this up again!
