Probably not a common opinion, but my favourite parts of this book were the parts talking about the lives of the characters from before the plot kicked off. The main story involving Lestat and Akasha was fine, but I really revelled in learning about the colourful cast of characters, even the ones that aren't really involved in the main story. My favourite chapter was probably the one about Daniel and Armand. The biggest strength in this series is its great cast, I think.

FINALLY FINISHED! The beginning was good and the ending was enjoyable. It took me forever to slog through the middle, but I'm glad I did. I was glad to see Louis and Lestat reunited, though of course there's always a little sadness mixed in. Will probably read some more Rice, but it will have to wait awhile. Didn't really like Akasha that much, but Maharet and Khayman were cool.

DID NOT FINISH: 54%

Story was slow, with many shifts in point of view that, while likely contributing to the story, left the plot to a crawling halt. This wouldn’t be so bad if most of the characters were interesting, but there are a number of characters who arrive only to have one brief appearance before either being killed or are removed from the story.
