maharet & mekhare best part of the book. large chunks of this was just a character sitting down nd narrating their life which i suppose is an anne rice classic. devils minion chapter was greattt. lots of good louis one-liners. the ending was sweet.

This being my fourth or so time through this series, this is still the most daunting story, but important nonetheless because of all its back stories of certain characters that play out in other [better written] books in the series.
Maybe my eyes roll out of my face at parts because of how corny they made this mash up movie of "...Lestat" and "Queen..." and I can't help but see those scenes in some of the way "Queen..." is written.
Maybe I just get bored easily these days and don't care much about lineage anymore.
Anyway, I still love the series so it technically gets a 3.5 rating and man I can't wait to move on.

This book wraps up the Vampire Chronicles books 1-3 and it's the third book in the series. There are other books after it, but this book is pretty much a direct continuation of the second book, The Vampire Lestat.

Overall I really enjoyed it, the book delves further into the world building and the other tertiary vampire characters.

I continue to be surprised by how much Anne Rice is able to pull me into this series. I love all of the vampires!

this book could have been like 150 pages shorter & the majority of the first half was painfully redundant BUT there were enough sections that were 5/5 stars that i still enjoyed it a lot! the second half was really really good & while the first half was slow, it was interesting to be introduced to so many new vamps despite the repetitiveness. i’m excited for the next book in the series!
