It's a testament to how much I enjoyed the overall ideas, writing, and composition of this book (and how clearly it's influenced the vampire genre) that I gave it 3.75 stars, because this book is so, SO racist. Anne "West Is Best" Rice strikes again!

i honestly wasn’t sure i’d enjoy this as must as i had enjoyed reading the vampire lestat but i was deadddddd wrong, oh my god.

i felt like i was watching this book as i read. i could picture every single scene as it was happening so well and i just loved that i could do that. i also found myself loving how this is basically my version of avengers coming together like the whole premise of it was so fun from the start and the ending i thought was really good and satisfying for me who really just loves lestat, louis, and claudia. and also, how could i even forget about the entirety of devil’s minion and the LOVE i hold for armand and daniel like GAHHHHHH i could go on and on about that chapter and how i desperately wish there was more :(

and about that THE ENDING :((( them going back to new orleans and lestat remembering as he walked through their abandoned house. oh, that entire section of the book was honestly downright beautiful and made my rating for this book soarr because wow. i literally almost cried reading through it. and lestat seeing her, grasping onto her hand…
god i literally felt sick with how heartbroken i am when it comes to these three.

it's interesting to read the actual development of rice's writing and the difference between  each book in this universe. plus the gorgeous expansions to such a fantastic world.

I do really wish this book went differently in many ways, but amazing craftsmanship and writing skill.
