don't remember much about this series other than it being a sweet romance. i finished this in 2 days and i really enjoyed it!

This is the first book that I have read straight through, in over probably three months. Perfect Chemistry is definitely a page turner. I was reading this book in class when I should not have been reading it at all. I was completely addicted to the book. Alex and Brittany's relationship is so compelling. I could not put this book down. I read it in three days, and it's probably the reason I'll get a bad grade on my english essay. Oh well!!

This was the cutest story I ever read. I loved it(=

it’s exactly what you’d expect.
i feel like they could have explored brittany’s relationship with her parents more

What. A. Book.
BRB crying, screaming.

Ok so I devoured this in one sitting. It was so much better than I expected. The writing was amazing, easy to read and had me hooked all the way through. It was angsty, funny but serious too. The chemistry really was perfect.

Alex and Brittany.
Enemies to friends to lovers. Forced to be partners in chemistry class, they spend time together for their project. The slow and natural progression of their friendship was beautiful to watch. They’re complete opposites, she’s popular white girl Miss Perfect while he’s a Mexican bad boy who rides a motorcycle and part of a gang. But against all odds, they find love in each other.
Her love for her sister Shelley was also beautiful. The side characters were also awesome and played a purpose in this story.

Anyways, a beautiful read, easily become one of my 5 star reads.

Q:
With someone you like that much, the lows are as low as the highs are high. Does that make sense?"
"It does. It also makes me sound bipolar."
"Love will do that to a person.”

I didn't like Brittany and thought she was kinda dumb towards the end, expecting Alex to change overnight and be able to leave his gang. Which he'd told her repeatedly he couldn't.
The Spanish words felt a little heavily thrown in at times. Either translate them afterwards or don't put complete Spanish sentences in. I'm too dumb for this. On a related note, how come Brittany never did any Spanish in high school anyway? She knew literally no Spanish at all. Not even 'Soy Greg' or whoever.
Enthralling book though. Very emotional, especially towards end.

DID NOT FINISH

DNF
didn't care for it.

When Brittany starts her senior year her plans were to reconnect with her boyfriend and her friends, be the best captain of the Pom Poms anyone had ever seen and keep up her appearance of being perfect and having a perfect life.
When Alex starts his senior year he expects to not even finish it. Being a member of the Latino Blood gets in the way of school.
What they both didn't expect was each other. A gang member and a seemingly perfect girl would never have a chance but is that all they really are?

When I started Perfect Chemistry all I wanted was a break from whiny annoying main characters. I just wanted something fun to read. What I got is a book that will probably stay with me for years to come. It was perfect! I would not change a thing. It really is an incredible love story between two unlikely characters.
Alex and Brittany's relationship is the ultimate forbidden love story. One a seemingly perfect rich girl the other a poor gang member. But they definitely are more than meets the eye. I found myself thinking what would I do in their shoes. This was such a complex story. Simone Elkeles really did a amazing job.

So often in books you get characters that fall flat or that are one dimensional. Not in this one. Alex and Brittany have layers and layers that are revealed as the story progresses. The narration goes back and forth between the two. I think that makes the story so much better. You get to know both of them intimately and not just how one perceives the other. I fell in love with these characters and even days later I'm still thinking about them.

The writing is superb. Spot on. And any other positive phrase you can think of. It was not predictable at all. Just when I thought I had things figured out Elkeles throws you a curve ball. I loved that! On the surface this is just a teen romance but it's so much more. There is a great message in the book and it makes you think.

I will definitely be reading other books by Elkeles in the future. She has definitely won me over with this amazing book. If you haven't read it yet please do and soon!

The story is extremely corny, but it kept me interested. Excited to read the other books in the series.
