Oh… my… glasses! And I thought “Dark Summer” ended in a huge cliffhanger! Compared to this one’s ending… it’s nothing. Thank God there’s the “Autumn Dawn” novella-sequel! I will probably go crazy if I don’t find out soon what’s going to happen.

OK. Now that I’ve had my crazy fangirl moment, it’s time I shared with you my thoughts about this book. First things first. If you haven’t read anything from this series, you don’t know what you’re missing. But if you have already read the first book, then I suggest you don’t skip the “Summer Night” novella before you read “Autumn Storm”, so you can enjoy the continuity of the story.

Thanks to Beck and Rania, Summer reincarnates as Autumn, to have a second chance to do what’s right and, more importantly, help Decker stand up to his Darkness. What’s really refreshing is how different Autumn is compared to Summer. Sure, she is the same innocent girl and has the same magical powers, but she is stronger, more able to stand up to herself. I think I could say that her death as Summer was necessary, as she wouldn’t have been able to help Decker as naive as she was in her past life.

Autumn can’t shake the feeling that she has been before to the boarding school, and already met some of the people who study there. And what I really love is how there is a connection between her and Summer, a ghost of herself, her past. Summer guides Autumn and tries to make her understand what her role is, but it’s very difficult since Autumn’s memories are being blocked with magic.

Decker goes crazy after Summer’s death, and he is fooled to believe surrendering to Darkness would solve all of his problems. He is trying to deal with the situation by doing immoral things, and I know that some people don’t like this sort of characters in books, but they should accept that not everybody is a role model. If an author chooses to write about such things, it doesn’t mean that the author is setting a bad example. On the contrary, I could say that he or she is showing the “how not”.

The action was fast-paced, and I would have liked more detailed descriptions of what the characters were doing and their surroundings. However, we get more insight into the Turner family and how the magic works, and that’s really great since the underexplained magic was one of the things that I didn’t quite like in the first book. I’m very hungry for this kind of things and even now, I still crave to find out more about everything.

There’s something magical in the way Lizzy Ford writes. Sometimes I wonder what kind of glue is put on the covers of her books, as I can’t put them down easily. “One more chapter” I tell myself over and over. You can’t help falling in love with her stories and before you realise you are addicted to one or more of her series.

It is rare that I read a book and have no complaints about it. usually there are a few things I wished they had done differently, but with these books... Wow just wow! I mean the author creates this world that just sucks you in right from the very first page! I read the first book Dark Summer a couple months back and just fell in love. With the writing the characters the author! Luckily she is a very fast writer and the second one came out very soon after! Now I am just counting down the days till the third and final book comes out! If you haven't read these book I strongly recommend you read them! They are so worth it! I truly haven't read a book like this one in awhile and they are so refreshing than dystopian phase that is currently going on right now. Seriously read them! You won't regret it!

this was a pretty exciting sequel but again the romance part ofthings moved a wee bit fast. I enjoyed seeing Decker and Beck growing into their new roles and even though Autumn wasn't as big a push over as Summer was icouldnt believe how readily everyone accepted her in Summers place. still kept me hooked the whole way thru..will be anxiously awaiting the next installment!

The imagination and depth of Lizzy Ford and her Witchling Series knows no bounds. Believe me, this is a highly consuming fantasy read. I can't remember when I last neglected so much of my day just to turn the next page.
Easily rating this five *magickal* stars!!!

Note to friends: adult subject matter, a mature New Adult read

I have another addition to my favourite author list and it makes me so happy >.< I am loving the Witchling trilogy so much. The characters are interesting and I love that the men are the ones needing help from the strong female characters. The plot may not be surprising but it definitely keeps me interested. I love the world building and the inclusion of some aspects of Wicca/witchcraft from the real world. These books may not be the most complicated or deep books but they touch me and take me to a place where I feel safe.

**This review may contain a spoiler or two**

Autumn Storm is the second book in Lizzy Ford’s Witchling series. The first book, which I’ve also reviewed, is Dark Summer.

In Autumn Storm, new girl Autumn shows up at the school for witchlings in Priest Lake, but Autumn has a secret. And the only people who know her secret are Beck, Beck’s mother, and Sam.

While at school, Autumn begins to realize that things and people start to seem very familiar to her, but yet she cannot figure out why. She does befriend a girl named Biji, and she also has Beck as a friend, although she is hoping for more. However, when Beck’s ex, Dawn, finds out about Autumn, she plots revenge. If she can’t have Beck, no one can.

When Autumn stumbles across Beck’s twin brother, Decker, she immediately feels a connection to him, even though he terrifies her. he also feels it, and he thinks maybe being with Autumn can help him move on.

As Autumn struggles to figure herself out, and understand why she keeps seeing a dark haired girl, Decker struggles with his feelings, and Beck struggles with his duties as Master of Light.

Things come to a head with Dawn, the cause of everyone’s problems, and Autumn ends up facing off with Decker as he loses himself to the Darkness. In doing so, she discovers the secret that’s been kept from her, and everything starts to fall into place.

I can’t really say much about this book without basically spoiling the whole entire thing. I mean, obviously, if you’ve read Dark Summer, you’ll understand Autumn Storm. But if not, then I don’t want to give a ton of stuff away. All I can say is, there is a lot of tension, a lot of drama, and it’s a really great story. Definitely recommended if you’re a fan of YA novels, indie authors, and/or witches.
