I enjoyed this book and all of McDougall's other books. However, they are not for everybody. He tends to jump around a lot - his books feel like a conversation I would have with a fellow runner in an endurance ultra run - a bit meandering and bringing many different parts together for a greater meaning. I love the thread and am already exploring many topics he hit upon in the book. For this one, I would recommend reading it rather than listening.

Superb book.
Combining (incredible - in the dictionary sense of the word) historical tale about Cretan (and British) resistance in WW2 with an extremely convincing love letter to original, natural movement (and eating). I am inspired to change my fitness regime and diet, as well as having many books and topics to add to the reading list to go further.

I’m not really sure what I expected this book to be about when I started it, but I sure as hell still really enjoyed reading Natural Born Heroes. I liked learning about this very small facet of World War II in Crete and the Cretan Resistance. And reading about the “natural born hero”-the heroes of Ancient Greece and modern day heroes and the idea of natural movement...natural movement is actually something I’ve heard of and already find very intuitive from my interest in fitness over the years, so I really enjoyed reading about the idea of natural movement in this historical context

so slow and it just dragged on, I wasn't holding my interest like I hoped it would
