This was a good one for anxiety and worries, and with good illustrations. I'm kind of looking for one where the thing the child worries about does happen, and they find out it's still okay. (Oh, spoiler- she gets the part). But this one was still good.

I thoroughly enjoyed this one! Great story, great message, lovely art.
I connected with it on a deeper level as dance also saved me from the anxiety and stress of my youth.

Pilar faces anxiety as she goes throughout her school day, using techniques like deep breathing and positive thinking to quell her worry and panic. She can finally relax when she gets to her favorite after school ballet class. But when a big audition comes around, ballet class starts to feel like a worry-place, too. With her relaxation techniques and help from her friends, Pilar finds that she can face her fears.
This is a reassuring book for young readers who carry their own anxiety with them and I love that Pilar demonstrates healthy ways to manage anxiety.

The author describes the physical feelings associated with worry, such as a racing heart, tight chest, flushed cheeks, etc. Mindfulness terminology, and practices, while evident, do not detract from the story and let children see the natural and practical application of deep breaths and positive self-talk in action.
