Though I’m not a Sufi, I really enjoyed Elif Shafak’s storytelling style.
I didn’t give it 5 stars because some character relationships didn’t feel pure or loyal from a Muslim perspective. Also, the death of a character I liked was disappointing , but what I liked that it’s inspired by real events that happened hundreds of years ago.
A book I will always come back to whenever I'll need to feed my soul some peace.
Absolutely beautifully written but too spiritual for me, reads a bit like a self help book
I immediately fell in love with this book, Ella was which an endearing character, who you can’t help being drawn to, through her home life, relationships and her role in reading ‘Sweet Blasphemy’.
The focus on love within this book ,falls under different formats, not just a romantic but friendships and religion. The way the author incorporates these all together, is breathtaking. This is a book that I will re-read, as I’m sure I will get something different from it each time.
This is a book that you can learn so much from, the authors writing is poetic, I’ve only previously read ‘The Island Of Missing Trees’ but I will be adding their previous works to my TBR.
